Auburn Bible Institute
Code of Conduct
ABI is open to all who have been born again and are serious about the Bible and church life. We are well past the days where we can assume that everyone is going act with proper decorum on church grounds. With the influence of modernistic/emerging churches, class and decency have been tossed aside for the looser, “more down to earth” style of church and school life. It is for this reason I have outlined a code of conduct. The intent is to protect the decency of the environment and maintain the goal and focus of this institute - to train up Bible Believers and send them out into all the world
- There will be no swearing or rude behavior.
- There will be no arguing or fighting with other students or instructor. There will be opportunities for open discussion and private talks.
- Any deviation from the statement of faith on any of its points will be grounds for dismissal.
- There will be no sexual misconduct tolerated. This is a school for both men and women and everyone has a right to a safe learning environment. This is grounds for dismissal.
Dress. Again, because of the influence of ecumenical/emerging churches who do not care how people present themselves before the Lord and his people there has been a rapid decline in modest dress for the ladies and decency for the men. The culture we live in is on a downward spiral in this area and now church services remind one of a rock concert. As we strongly emphasise outreach there will be, in addition to classroom instructions, hands on soul winning outreach i.e. house to house, street preaching and one-on-one encounters. It is important for the students to be present themselves properly in these venues.
Men – Men will wear a dress shirt and pants. No shorts, sandals, tank tops, t- shirts and no logos and baseball caps. A short sleeve dress shirt can be worn. No earrings, nose rings and any other piercing of the body shall be shown. There will be opportunities for the men to speak and possibly teach in a number of venues. In such cases a suit jacket and tie must be worn.
Ladies – Shall wear dresses or skirts that are below the knee in sitting position. Shoulders will be covered. The clothing will be modest in all its forms. If the ladies do not have these items and are serious about attending please call for information.
Note: It is understood that not everyone has a dress shirt, pants and shoes. If you are serious about attending this institute please call and we will arrange for you to get these items.
I know that it is a hot issue in many churches today, but dress is a reflection of attitude and shows the believer's heart toward God.
As the needs of ABI change this code of conduct will be updated.
